Aim: To present and give students practice with functions related to asking and answering questions used to describe a stranger, in the context of a police officer and a witness to a crime.
Assumptions: Most students will already know the core function (example: how old was he?), but some Ss may have a limited vocabulary of adjectives and nouns to create effective questions and answers that can identify the suspect’s unique appearance. Pair stronger with weaker Ss for balance; use the controlled practice to provide descriptive words that can be used during the interview.
